Perast is a small but exceptionally charming town on the coast of the Bay of Kotor, located about 12 kilometers from Kotor. Despite its small population, Perast is rich in history and famous for its well-preserved baroque architecture, a legacy of its time under Venetian rule. The town is best known for the two islets just offshore — Our Lady of the Rocks, an artificial island with a church built on a reef, and the natural Island of Saint George. A stroll along the waterfront, visits to churches and the local museum, and a boat ride to the islands make Perast a must-see destination on the Montenegrin coast.
