Bešenovo Monastery, part of the Srem Diocese, is one of 16 monasteries on Fruška Gora. It is located on the southern slopes of the mountain’s central area. According to legend, it was founded by King Dragutin in the late 13th century. The earliest official record dates from 1545, and the year 1467 is inscribed as the date of the church’s frescoes. The church is dedicated to the Holy Archangels Gabriel and Michael.
